The full outline
Laid flat, this dark-brown Bund makes a long, curved outline around a pale round dial. The leather widens beneath the case, then draws in towards each end. A fine row of lighter stitches follows the edge. Short rows across the upper leather sections make another pair of lines close to the lugs.
The case is still the brightest shape in the photograph. Beside it, the narrow brown margin is enough to distinguish the Bund construction. Farther from the watch, the stitching becomes easier to see against the larger uninterrupted areas of leather.
A closer view at the buckle
The buckled view changes the emphasis. Two leather keepers cross the strap, and the pointed tail sits beneath them. The thread follows the rounded sides of the tip. Along the folded keepers, the light catches small surface lines that are less apparent in the full-length photograph.
Those changes in brightness are part of what the camera records on this piece. They give the brown more variation than a flat colour swatch. The photographs do not identify a tannery or establish a history of wear, so the visible marks are left to describe the surface as it was photographed.
